Overview

The Higher Education Opportunity Act requires institutions participating in federally funded financial aid programs to make information about the institution available to the public, current and prospective students, current and prospective student loan borrowers, and current employees. Therefore, Philander Smith University is committed to the principle of promoting access to information that will allow consumers to make informed decisions about post-secondary education. Please use the links below for disclosure information pertaining to consumer information for students, parents, employees, and the university community to make informed decisions about higher education. If written information is preferred, you may request such from the appropriate institutional office.

It is designed to provide students with information from a variety of sources on campus to allow students, parents, counselors, and others to make informed decisions about enrollment at Philander Smith University. While information provided in the required disclosures is helpful, it is not comprehensive and other factors may influence a decision to enroll.

  • Vaccination Policies

    • Philander Smith University requires all new students to meet vaccination requirement for admissions before you will be allowed to register for classes as stated on the new freshman page. In addition, some academic programs that require fieldwork, clinicals, practicums, or internships in certain settings may require students to conform to vaccination policies in order to protect the public. These programs may include Education, Allied Health, and Social Work. Students in these programs should contact their academic department to inquire about vaccination policies.

      These reports provide retention and graduation rates for entering freshmen cohorts for the university. The cohorts represent first-time, full-time, degree-seeking
freshmen who enrolled at PSU during the fall term or the previous summer.

TUITION & FEES

  • Cost of Attendance

    • Philander Smith University’s cost of attendance can vary based on factors including number of credit hours taken, types of courses taken (e.g. courses with lab fees, online courses, etc.), and eligibility for discounts. To estimate the cost of attendance, the University provides a full list of tuition by credit hour, a summary of fees, and information about certain discounts on its Cost & Aid page and in the current University Catalog.   • Net Price Calculator

    • As required by law, Philander Smith University provides a net price calculator which can help first time students estimate their cost of attendance along with estimated financial aid. The net price calculator provides an estimate only, and does not include institutional scholarships, state aid, or other awards. The PSU net price calculator is available on the website of the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Refunds for Withdrawals or Dropped Courses

    • The last day to drop courses and receive a refund is posted on the University’s course schedule. Deadlines for courses may be dependent on factors such as the start and end date of a course, particularly for short courses that do not last a full semester

COMPLAINT PROCESS

  • Internal Complaint Processes

    • To submit a complaint related to the assignment of grades or conduct of an instructor that does not involve a complaint of sexual harassment or discrimination, the Academic Complaint Procedure is published on the Center for student Success webpage
    • To make a report or submit a complaint related to sexual harassment or discrimination:

    • For other complaints not involving the assignment of grades or conduct of an instructor, and not involving sexual harassment or discrimination, individuals should contact the administrator in charge of the department or division involved in the complaint directly.
