Health & Wellness
Philander Smith University provides a comprehensive health care program to all enrolled students. The Health Services Department’s primary goals are to promote health care management, facilitate disease prevention, provide health care information and increase awareness of health issues significant to this population. These services are available for the faculty, staff and student body.
Supplemental Health Insurance
In an effort to achieve these goals, Philander Smith University also has available for the full time undergraduate student a supplemental health insurance policy designed to absorb some of the financial burden often incurred as a result of receiving health care services. The insurance covers sickness and injuries not covered or payable by any other plan (or from any other source) providing medical expense benefits. The services rendered by the RN are provided at no cost to the students.
Location: The Health Services is located in the Health and Wellness Center on the 1st Floor of the Fine Arts Building.
DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES
The mission of Disability Support Services is to create an academic, social and physically accessible environment for students with disabilities by removing obstacles to learning. Through this mission Philander Smith University will empower students with disabilities to take charge of their lives through becoming more knowledgeable and skilled in expressing their needs, preferences and desires. All students with documented disabilities are eligible for services.
