Little Rock, Ark. (March 2, 2021) – Due to inclement weather, Philander Smith College is rescheduling Religious Emphasis Week. The new dates are March 14-19. All events will be hosted in virtual spaces on Facebook Live and YouTube in response to the ongoing challenge of holding large gatherings due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. This year’s theme is “The In-Between Times” taken from James 1:17-27.
According to the organizer and host, Rev. Ronnie Miller-Yow, “Now more than ever, it is important and appropriate for us to maintain our focus on our faith and our fellowship. This has been a difficult season for many of us and the efforts that we make to strengthen our connection to our spiritual foundations will provide Christian support and encouragement.”
Miller-Yow is the director of the Office of Religious Life and Campus Culture at Philander Smith College where he serves as pastor of Wesley Chapel. Founded in 1877, Philander Smith College has been rooted and guided by its connection with the United Methodist Church. The Arkansas State Conference of the United Methodist Church is located on the campus grounds.
