Nationally Recognized Tom Joyner Foundation to help raise funds for Philander Smith College
Little Rock, Ark. (May 10, 2016)---The Tom Joyner Foundation has named Philander Smith College as its June 2016 “School of the Month.” As one of only 12 Historically Black Colleges and Universities selected for the designation each year, Philander Smith will partner with the Tom Joyner Foundation to raise scholarship dollars throughout the entire month.
Established by top ranked and nationally syndicated “Fly Jock” radio personality Tom Joyner, The Tom Joyner Foundation was created to directly support HBCUs. Founded in 1998, the Foundation has raised more than $60 million to help keep students enrolled in black colleges. It has assisted more than 14,000 students and worked with more than 100 HBCUs.
As part of the “School of the Month” program, the Foundation will leverage national sponsorships, partnerships, celebrity relationships, and the syndicated radio program The Tom Joyner Morning Show, which reaches nearly eight million listeners each week, to raise money for Philander Smith College throughout the e\month of June. All funds raised during the month will directly benefit students in the form of scholarships and aid.
In addition to fundraising support, the Tom Joyner Foundation will also award five scholarships to Philander students throughout the month.
