28TH ANNUAL ELIJAH PITTS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
Philander Smith College is excited to host the 28th Annual Elijah Pitts Memorial Golf Tournament. Each year, this event is hosted to honor alumnus and gridiron great Elijah Pitts by raising funds to benefit student athletes at his beloved alma mater.
The tournament--a four-person scramble with team fees covering the cost of the cart, green fees, breakfast, lunch, and beverages--is a great investment opportunity for any business or organization, with sponsorship-level team fees including on-site signage at the event, promotion of your company in campus communications including within the College's magazine and newsletter. Recognition sponsorship levels begin at $1,500.

ABOUT ELIJAH PITTS

Mayflower, Ark., native and 1961 Philander Smith College graduate Elijah Pitts was a star running back for the NFL’s Green Bay Packers from 1961- 1969. Pitts scored two touchdowns in Super Bowl I, and as a five-time NFL champion (’61, ‘62, ‘65, ‘66 and ‘67), was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1979 and, the following year, into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed a lengthy coaching career, and was an assistant head coach of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills for 16 years until his death in 1998. Elijah Pitts is being inducted into the Class of 2023 Black College Football Hall of Fame.
