PANTHER PANTRY & FRESH MARKET
Feeding The Village, One Panther At A Time
Though the COVID-19 global pandemic has impacted normal operations, the Panther Pantry is committed to serving students and addressing food insecurities. Panther Pantry At Your Door will provide small monetary grants to students in need of groceries.
The mission of the Panther Pantry and Fresh Market is to address food insecurity and food justice for students, staff, and faculty in need within the Philander Smith College community.
WHY HERE, WHY NOW
As of Fall 2019, there are 1010 students enrolled at Philander Smith College. Of these students, 85% are PELL eligible. Approximately 860 of our currently enrolled students come from families whose income is below the federal poverty rate. Additionally, over 25% of the students enrolled at Philander Smith College are from one of the 25 Delta counties of Arkansas.
Our students have achieved the success of getting into college, however many do not have the financial and social support of their families while in school because of the economic conditions back home. The Panther Pantry is here to support any Philanderian in need.
The Panther Pantry and Fresh Market will provide support to students, staff, and faculty in need
