To administer academic instruction, PSC will implement COVID-19 Health Options for Instructional and Community Engagement (CHOICE) for all students enrolled for the 2020 Fall Semester.
To make the CHOICE that is right for you, students should confer with their parents and/or caregivers to discuss all options. After doing so, students should then work with his/her academic advisor and articulate their desired method of instruction. While some courses may be limited due to availability, the College will work diligently to meet students’ desired method for instruction during the limited services period.
Additional Assistance in Uncertain Times
The College understands that the disruptions from COVID-19 have
affected our students and their families greatly. To that end, students eligible to receive federal financial aid may also be eligible to apply for a PSC COVID CARES Act Grant for the Fall 2020 Semester of up to $500 based on remaining need after all financial aid has been applied. These grants will be posted to the student’s account to cover his/her cost of attendance.
Returning Students who received a Philander Smith College COVID-19 Student Emergency Aid Grant during the Spring 2020 Semester will be able to apply for additional assistance of up to $650. The new application and guidelines will be posted early Fall.
Fall 2020 Transient Transfer Scholarship
The College acknowledges that there may be local students who are unable to return to their institutions during the Fall 2020 due to COVID-19 factors. The College is extending its Transfer Scholarship to these students for one semester in an amount of $1,250. The minimum G.P.A. requirement for the Transient Transfer Scholarship is 3.0 and the student must enroll full-time at Philander Smith College.
For more information on this scholarship, please contact the Office of Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Navigating through the registration process often means having to visit with personnel in the Office of Financial Aid. During this time period, your financial aid counseling needs will be met through telephone meetings, as well as through virtual and video conferences (by appointment only). For instances when counseling must be conducted in-person, meetings will be made by appointment.
For paperwork submission, the Office of Financial Aid utilizes a secure portal document upload via Net Partner student financial aid portal that will allow for the transmission of documents. Emails and faxes will also continue to be accepted.
Online Fiscal Clearance
Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Online Clearance Process. For those who require assistance (e.g. payment arrangements), the Business Office will provide services via phone, as well as see students in-person by appointment only, during regular business hours. To discuss your student account or to make an appointment, please call 501-370-5206.
