UPDATE ON HOUSING REFUNDS & CREDITS

UPDATE ON HOUSING REFUNDS & CREDITS
CampusUpdates_Refunds

We once again extend our sincere appreciation for your patience as we finalized the

process for the calculation and issuance of refunds and credits for room and board plans

that were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this time, we want you to know that Spring 2020 room and board credits

have now been posted. Credits were calculated as follows:

  • Original contracted housing period January 10 - May 2 for a total of 114 days.

  • Subtracting the 9-day spring break leaves 105 days in the enrollment period.

  • The residence halls officially closed on March 22; which computes to being open for a total of 73 days (or 70%).

  • Refund will be for 30% (32 days) of residence hall utilization and meal plan charges.

  • Room Credit for the Suites = $886.20

  • Room Credit for all other Residential Housing = $778.80

  • On-Campus 19 Meal Plan Credit = $458.64

  • Off-Campus Meal Plan Credits

  • 10 Meal Plan = $330

  • 5 Meal Plan = $180

Scholars were previously advised to review your student balance for a more informed understanding of how the refund process affects you individually. To check the current student account, please log into your MyPanther account. Under the “Students” Tab - click “Business Office” on the left side of the screen - and then “View My Course and Fee Statement.”

Please remember that all textbooks must be received before any refunds can be issued. Additionally, be advised that the College is in the process of adjusting institutional scholarships, as applicable.

Students should refer to the FAQs relating to the processing of room and board credits for a complete breakdown.

As it relates to tuition and fees, however, there will be no adjustments made. If you are experiencing a hardship paying Spring 2020 tuition and would like to discuss payment arrangements, we are available to discuss options with you. Please contact the Business Office at (501) 370-5206 or email uellis@philander.edu.

In acknowledgement of the conditions caused by the pandemic, the College has temporarily lifted financial holds for students with outstanding balances from Spring 2020 to allow students to register for summer and fall classes. Since this policy is subject to change, students with outstanding balances from Fall 2019 or prior are encouraged to contact the Business Office as soon as possible at (501) 370-5206 or uellis@philander.edu.

We appreciate each of you for bearing with us as we contemplated decisions and devised

procedures that hopefully provide assistance to students in the wake of the effects of the

COVID-19 public health crisis.
