The 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock, Inc. held an induction ceremony for the first Collegiate 100 chapter in the state of Arkansas at Philander Smith College at noon on Monday, January 26, 2020. Chapter Advisor Joseph Jones, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Special Assistant to the President led the Pinning Ceremony of New Members and Officers. Over fifteen Philander Men and Women participated in the induction ceremony.
The Collegiate 100 program is an auxiliary of the national organization known as 100 Black Men of America that extends the mission on college and university campuses across America. All students, who are in academic good standing and who have a passion to mentor and deliver community service, are eligible to become members of the Collegiate 100. The mission is to support the sponsoring chapters of 100 Black Men in their efforts to nurture and enhance the growth and development of young black students. The vision is to ensure the future of 100 Black Men chapters by developing a pipeline of exceptional young African American leaders who are responsible and who proactively serve their homes, schools, and communities.
One of 118 chapters worldwide, the 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that has dedicated its time and resources to improving Little Rock and the surrounding communities. Our activities consist of facilitating a weekly Reading Program at Romine Elementary School (LRSD); the 100 Academy Mentoring Program; SMART (Success, Motivation, Academics, Respect, & Trust) mentoring program; and the annual 100 Black Men Christmas Gala.
